Come Ye Thankful People, Come!

Happy Thanksgiving!
This is my favorite Thanksgiving hymn -
sung every year in the Presbyterian church
I grew up in.
Just wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it!

Come Ye Thankful People, Come

Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of harvest home;
All is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin.
God our Maker doth provide for our wants to be supplied;
Come to God’s own temple, come, raise the song of harvest home.
All the world is God’s own field, fruit unto His praise to yield;
Wheat and tares together sown unto joy or sorrow grown.
First the blade and then the ear, then the full corn shall appear;
Lord of harvest, grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be.
For the Lord our God shall come, and shall take His harvest home;
From His field shall in that day all offenses purge away,
Giving angels charge at last in the fire the tares to cast;
But the fruitful ears to store in His garner evermore.
Even so, Lord, quickly come, bring Thy final harvest home;
Gather Thou Thy people in, free from sorrow, free from sin,
There, forever purified, in Thy garner to abide;
Come, with all Thine angels come, raise the glorious harvest home.

We Plow The Fields And Scatter ~

 photo f86e3158-56c4-4c22-b949-d87de2152819_zpscbykx1ei.jpg

This wheat field is precious to me.
For it once belonged to my grandfather, and later, my uncle.
I often saw my uncle riding out on his tractor
to work it - would have loved to come along!

We Plow The Fields And Scatter

We plow the fields, and scatter the good seed on the land,
But it is fed and watered by God’s almighty hand;
He sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain,
The breezes and the sunshine, and soft refreshing rain.
He only is the Maker of all things near and far;
He paints the wayside flower, He lights the evening star;
The winds and waves obey Him, by Him the birds are fed;
Much more to us, His children, He gives our daily bread.

We thank Thee, then, O Father, for all things bright and good,
The seed time and the harvest, our life, our health, and food;
No gifts have we to offer, for all Thy love imparts,
But that which Thou desirest, our humble, thankful hearts.

All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above,
Then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord for all His love.

Pumpa's Painting

In my kitchen hangs a very special painting.
Special to me, anyway.
Others might look at it and think,
"Oh, that's nothing much."
It's painted on cardboard,
not on a fancy canvas.
What makes it so special?
It was painted just for me -
by my grandpa!
We kids called him "Pumpa"
because my oldest cousin could not
for the life of him say "Grandpa"
when he was little - and it stuck!
And we all loved it!

And we loved him!

Years ago, I had this humble cardboard painting
professionally framed.  What??  you may ask?
Isn't that kind of expensive for such humble material?
I wasn't framing the cardboard,
I was protecting a little piece of my heart!

How about you?
Do you have something special you'd like to tell us about?
I'm all ears!

Pansies and Blessings!

 photo Little Prairie Home Pansies_zpsgmckylz8.jpg

‘Adonai bless you and keep you!
Adonai make His face to shine on you and be gracious to you!
Adonai turn His face toward you and grant you shalom!’
In this way they are to place My Name over Bnei-Yisrael,
and so I will bless them.”
(Numbers 6:24-27 Tree of Life Bible)

May the Lord bless you richly today!

Old Barns and Old People

This is a precious old video - I've enjoyed it many times - first in e-mails,
and lately on Facebook.  But a good story always bears repeating, and this
one is no exception.  So sit back, relax, pour a cuppa coffee, and enjoy!

Sabbath Blessings ~

This lovely Scripture verse is embroidered on the precious
"tallit" (Jewish prayer shawl)
I was blessed with several years ago.
It is called the "Prayer of Jabez",
(1 Chronicles 4:10)
and is a prayer of blessing.
It is my prayer for YOU today!
May you be blessed, and prosper,
and be free of pain - by the Grace of God!

Shabbat Shalom, chevarim!
(Sabbath Peace, my friend!)

Hope ~

For I know the plans I have for you,”
declares the Lord,
 “plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future."
(Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

For those who know Him, this is a very precious promise!
He loves you so much that He died for your sins,
so that you can be set free from them!
If you don't yet know Jesus, or Yeshua as His Name is in Hebrew -
won't you give Him your life today?
Then you, too - can have this precious hope!
I gave Him my life many years ago - and have never regretted it!

One Day At a Time [Live]

Sometimes we just need a gentle reminder
to stop, take a deep breath,
put all our cares in Jesus' very capable hands,
and just take life -
"One Day At A Time".
Enjoy!

Just a Sweet Reminder ~

Just a sweet reminder, dear friends . . .
that no matter what you may be going through . . .
in good times, and in not-so-good times . . .
when you feel lovable, and especially when you don't . . .
Jesus is with you - holding you close -
and reminding you that He loves you!
(and so do I!)
Hugs to you!!

Love & Blessings!

Hello, Dear Friends!!!
I hope your week has been filled with love and blessings -
as mine has been - the blessings of busy-ness!!
Yes, being busy IS a blessing - especially when you have been
rather confined for 12 years due to health challenges -
and then received your health and energy back by the Grace of God!!
Rest is extra sweet then - and so is work!
Have a Blessed & Restful Sabbath!

All Things Bright And Beautiful

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.

The rich man in his castle,
The poor man at his gate,
He made them, high or lowly,
And ordered their estate.

The purple headed mountains,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning
That brightens up the sky.

The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them every one.

The tall trees in the greenwood,
The meadows where we play,
The rushes by the water,
To gather every day.

He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.

Country Days

Horse by Bobby Mikul

"PLOUGHING"

The little birds by God are fed
But man must earn his daily bread,
And work that he may eat;
Striving his best, as John does now,
The broad ten-acre field to plough,
Wherein to sow the wheat.
Old John, the ploughman, ne'er repines,
Whether it blows, or rains, or shines,
But happy still does seem;
And Dick, who leads the foremost horse,
Goes whistling as he walks across
The field beside the team.

Let us perform as gladly, too,
The work our Master bids us do,
And then we need not fear;
But when from earthly toil we rest,
We all shall meet among the blest
Who served Him truly here.
