Hello, Again!

My goodness, it's been a looooong time since I posted here!  Life has had it's ups and downs, twists and turns, aaannd I've decided to try blogging again.  Basically my life is still the same, except that my precious little kitty, Peanut- my constant companion for 13 lovely years- recently had to be put to sleep.  My heart is healing, but ohhh so slowly.

Guess Who's Turning 12 Today?!?!?

Somebody pretty special around here is having a birthday today!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PEANUT!!!

Birthday boy is turning 12 years old today!

Can we say "PAR-TAY!  PAR-TAY!"

Time to break out the kitty treats,

catnip, special "birthday cake",

and his present . . . snowball pompoms!

(Shhhhh . . . that's a secret!)

Perfect for the major blizzard we're gonna have today!

My precious little furry buddy is a

rescue kitty!  He came to share my heart and home about

10+ years ago - from the local Humane Society shelter.  The police had picked him up from wandering the streets - and brought him there.  And am I ever thankful to the Lord that they did!

From what I understand - he apparently lost his first home in a fire, and must have run away scared - poor little guy!!  But now he is the sweetest, happiest little fella -

lovingly nicknamed "The Boss" by my friends and neighbors!

(((((Hugs))))) little buddy - your Mommy loves you!!

A Light in the Darkness . . .

Every Shabbat we light a special candle, or two . . . 

It reminds us that Yeshua (Jesus)  is the Light of the World,

and since believers are His children,

we too are a light in this dark world.

May we walk as children of the light,

always pointing others to Him.

Friday is always Preparation Day for Shabbat . . . 

so it can get a little crazy . . . and messy . . .

and somehow everything turns out well in spite of it all!

Today I made the traditional Challah bread

and will share my favorite recipe, plus tips on how to make

these cute Challah rolls

Shabbat Shalom! Happy 6th Night of Hanukkah!

Tonight is VERY special - 

not only is it Shabbat

(the first feast day that Adonai gave us)

but it is also the 6th Night of Hanukkah!

It has been a joyful celebration 

of God's blessings and light all week

here at Little Prairie Home!

And tonight is even more special because

it is two holidays in one!

Lots of good food

(gotta love latkes with sour cream & applesauce! Mmmm!)

also known as the Festival of Lights, or the Feast of Dedication!

It's Time To Celebrate Yeshua!

here in America, we have just
finished a wonderful holiday called Thanksgiving.
But as believers in Yeshua,
we have an even greater day to celebrate Him . . . the Sabbath!

This wheat field is precious to me.
For it once belonged to my grandfather, and later, my uncle.
I often saw my uncle riding out on his tractor
to work it - would have loved to come along!

God's Mosaic

It's harvest time in Kansas -

Milo harvest, that is!

The last harvest of the year here.

It is brought in by the semi-trucks

and deposited in two HUGE piles at the edge

of our little town.

Each pile is several stories high,

and nearly a block long!

Soon it will be headed out of town

in the train cars that roll along

the track in front of it.

How they do that is a mystery to me!

It is used to make feed for cattle.

But I think God intended it

to add some spectacular

Autumn color to our little town

before Winter comes!

Last Daisy of Summer

I had a little garden on my porch this year -

Tomatoes, Four-o'clock, Geraniums,

and Daisies.  LOTS of daisies!!

I think they are so cheery!

And it's quite surprising that any have lasted

until November -

but this one brave little soldier did!

Something worth celebrating!

and the Kiddush and Hamotze is ready.

For me, it is the most precious part

of the Erev Shabbat home service.

Does it look familiar?

It is the bread and the wine

(or in my home, grape juice).

representing the precious sacrifice

that Yeshua made for our salvation

on the Cross!

Yes . . . it may surprise you to know . . . . .

that it is Communion!

Messianic Blessing over the bread-

"Blessed are You, Lord our G-d, King of the Universe,

Who brings forth the Living Bread from Heaven."

Messianic Blessing over the wine-

"Blessed are You, Lord our G-d, King of the Universe,

Giver of the True Fruit of the Vine - Yeshua, our Messiah."

Mommy's Little Helper . . . In The Kitchen!

Because I just couldn't POSSIBLY put

the groceries away without his help!

( He's the extra "sugar", you know!  ;)

Pumpa's Painting

In my kitchen hangs a very special painting.

Special to me, anyway.

Others might look at it and think,

"Oh, that's nothing much."

It's painted on cardboard,

not on a fancy canvas.

What makes it so special?

It was painted just for me -

by my grandpa!

We kids called him "Pumpa"

because my oldest cousin could not

for the life of him say "Grandpa"

when he was little - and it stuck!

And we all loved it!

And we loved him!

Years ago, I had this humble cardboard painting

professionally framed.  What??  you may ask?

Isn't that kind of expensive for such humble material?

I wasn't framing the cardboard,

I was protecting a little piece of my heart!
